национальная служба, воинская обязанность (по названию Закона о национальной службе {National Service Act, 1951}, кот. устанавливал обязательную военную подготовку для мужчин 18 лет сроком 176 дней; в 1954 этот срок был сокращён до 154 дней; в 1972 прохождение обязательной военной подготовки было отменено)
